Traditionally, résumés were apparaised according to their weight: the heavier they were, the more respectable they were!
Although I already had a small résumé, I was now forced to shrink it to one single page. As people don't have time to read it all, it is important to focus on our strengths or, at least, in the skills we think better suit the requirements of a particular organization.

Good start to the blog! 2-page résumés are useful but it depends on your experience level and the job you're applying for. The skill is in being able to capture the most relevant points of your experiences that match the job requirement. The cover letter allows you to sell yourself more on how you would fit the job and how you would apply those experiences to be the ideal employee. The CV and Coverletter go hand in hand.
